Broncos QB Tim Tebow Loses In First Round of Madden 2012 Cover Vote
EA Sports has teamed up with ESPN’s SportsNation to allow NFL fans the chance to choose this year’s cover for Madden 2012 by casting votes in a 32-player tournament. Unfortunately, Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow was eliminated in the first round of the tournament–which means the former Gator will not appear on this year’s cover.
Tebow lost to Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles after receiving just 36 percent of the votes from fans. Now, Charles will face off against Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew in the second round of the tournament to appear on this year’s cover of Madden.
Tebow entered the Madden 2012 Cover Vote tournament as a No. 11 seed and appeared to be a likely candidate to advance considering his reputation as one of the biggest sports icons. While he’ll miss out on appearing on this year’s cover, at least Broncos fans don’t have to worry about Tebow and the Madden curse next season.
