Broncos QB Tim Tebow Discusses How NCAA Should Pay College Players in New Book

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow has one of the most interesting stories when it comes to his journey to the NFL and thanks to the release of his recent autobiography–fans can now read about the life story of the former first-round pick and Florida standout.

Tebow’s book “Through My Eyes” was released this week and discusses everything from the details of his childhood to his incredible journey in football dating back to high school. Lindsay Jones of The Denver Post discussed on Thursday how she already finished Tebow’s new book–describing it as a 257-page love letter devoted to God, family, and Florida football. However, it’s Tebow’s belief about how  the NCAA should strongly consider paying college players that may be one of the most interesting aspects of the book.

From Jones’ article:

Tebow also addressed some hot issues, writing that the NCAA should consider paying college athletes (he said he had to scrimp to afford Christmas presents for his family even though the Florida athletic department was making plenty of cash) and reconsider the BCS (he admitted feeling badly for the 2008 Utah team that finished undefeated while his Gators were crowned national champions).

Tebow also admitted to playing despite having headaches two weeks after a severe concussion in 2009. Tebow said Gators coach Urban Meyer told him not to play, but Tebow lied by saying he wasn’t having headaches anymore.

As bad as it sounds, Tebow makes an interesting point considering he was one of the most popular athletes in sports during his time at Florida and was even considered a national icon by many and the university benefited from his status. He may have struggled to come up with money for Christmas gifts during his time with the Gators, but it’s safe to say Tebow won’t have that problem anymore thanks to the hefty five-year contract he signed with the Broncos back in 2010.
